What does it mean to choose yourself? This hummingbird possesses the energy that guides me to answer that question today and every day. What am I referring to? My drive to create, my feeling of belonging, and the joy that I have access to, which all originate inside my choice to know myself more fully.

I’ve always admired the hummingbird. When a client recently commissioned me to craft an artwork that represents her connection to the powerful Circle of CORE at UCLA, I intuitively knew this special animal would become the iconic figure to relay the message. As I researched the goals and intentions of the CORE Kidney Group, my relationship with the symbolism of the hummingbird became more clear. The artwork that I began channeling for my. client began to enrich and expand my vision and perspective on life and what it means to choose myself.
