Greetings from edyland, the home of edymade, an Etsy shop that provides me with an opportunity to experiment with a variety of media and share my new creations with others. My name is Edy Pickens Levin and I began my artistic journey in South Carolina, where I was influenced by my grandmother, a prolific artist and my mother, a gifted pianist. After I received a B.A. in studio art from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia and an M.F.A. in painting from Indiana University, I moved to Los Angeles, where I began teaching art at Brentwood School. For the past decade, I have been developing an interdisciplinary style which expresses a pantheistic empathy with nature and, more specifically, an impassioned connection to horses and rural landscapes. In addition to helping guide others on the path to artistic enlightenment I have also been writing/recording/performing music with The Ventriloquists and Dragon Layzer. I often find myself reconciling the differences and highlighting the similarities between my rural Southern roots and the metropolitan behemoth I now call home. Thanks for reading about me and supporting me in my creative endeavors!
